NEEDS ASSESSMENT

The field of assisted reproduction is becoming the gateway to many other disciplines in related fields. For example, embryos produced from in vitro fertilization are often used by scientists from many disciplines to generate stem cells. These stem cells are then studied by molecular biologists, oncologist to name a few.

   
LECTURE DESCRIPTION

The study of stem cells allows researchers to understand the mechanism regulating early development and differentiation in vitro. Stem cells are also the foundation of for regenerative medicine and offer hope for a treatment of many clinical conditions.

However, the use of non human primates offer an attractive model to test he efficacy of these cell based technologies. In addition, the use of somatic cells in nuclear transfer to produce immunological compatible stem cells has far reaching implications.
