Integrative Medicine: Is it an Option or Standard of Care in IVF?

Course Chair:  Diane K Cridennda L.Ac.,NCCAOM

NEEDS ASSESSMENT/DESCRIPTION

More and more patients are requesting the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) including Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs when undergoing high tech infertility treatments including IVF.

There is a lack of understanding and communication between the Eastern practitioners and Western physicians which leads to fear and confusion.

The remedy for this fear is good research on the affect of TCM combined with ART using a comprehensive approach.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between east and west with excellent research and communication to benefit the patient.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This course is designed to allow the participant:

  1. Look at evidence that supports the possibilities of how Chinese medicine might improve IVF outcomes.
  2. Understand the fundamental process within TCM referred to as the "differential" diagnosis.
  3. Achieve a basic understanding of how Chinese medicine approaches the diagnosis and treatment of infertility.
