ROBOTIC SURGERY IN REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE

Workshop Chair:  Leo Bonaventura , MD

NEEDS ASSESSMENT

This is the cutting edge of Minimally Invasive Reproductive Surgery. All of the procedures we perform today, with the old techniques, can now be done better with the da Vinci Robot Platform. It enables the older techniques to be safer and more efficient for our patient population.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1.   Experience the basics of Robotics

 2.  Learn room set up, patient placement and port       placement.

 3.   Derive basic concepts of actual reproductive procedures.

 4. Experience hands on participation with the da Vinci Robot system.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course will allow participants to experience the basics of Robotic Surgery and how it applies to reproductive surgery.

There will be two Robotic Platforms as well as 4 stations that will familiarize the participant with room set up, patient positioning, port placement, as well as video of actual procedures such as, Myomectomy, Reanastamosis, Lysis of adhesions, Metroplasty, as well as Intrabdominal Cerclage and Oopherocystectomies.

Participants will also have the opportunity for hands on experience with da Vinci system and learn hand movements and knot tying.

At the end of the course the participant will be ready to move to the next step of Robotics’ training at their local hospital.
