NEEDS ASSESSMENT / LECTURE DESCRIPTION

       This lecture will update reproductive endocrinologists and gynecologists with the most current knowledge of assessing ovarian reserve. A review of the traditional methods such as hormonal measurements and antral follicle counts in the early follicular phase will be provided.

      New methods such as AMH levels, ORI , and  the use of 3-D ultrasound in determining ovarian reserve will be discussed . Participants will formulate evidence based approaches to ovarian reserve.

LECTURE OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of the lecture, participants should be able to:
 

1.  Discuss the age related changes of the ovary which affect ovarian reserve and pregnancy.

2.  Recognize the use of new strategies such as AMH levels, inhibin B levels and the ovarian reserve index (ORI).

3.  Appreciate the use of 3-D ultrasound in assessing ovarian reserve.

4.  Identify the strengths and weaknesses of all available testing.
