MD Session - Surgery: Surgery in the Era of ART

Session Description:

Reproductive surgery is an important area of training in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, however, most complex surgery is either not performed by reproductive endocrinologists or patient's pursue in vitro fertilization to meet their fertility goals.  The goal of this session is to provide the audience with key reproductive surgical issues and highlight the importance of a reproductive surgeon.  The session will also provide an understanding of fertility enhancement after surgery and make an argument for fertility surgery to be the 1st line of treatment over in-vitro fertilization in certain case scenarios.

Session Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate key reproductive surgical issues and the surgical approach to them
  2. Understand improvement in fertility after surgery compared to IVF for certain conditions
  3. Highlight disease conditions where reproductive surgery might be more beneficial over fertility treatments
