Dear Friends and Colleagues,
What an outstanding meeting this past April! Congratulations to Dr. Jane Frederick, our outgoing president, and doctors Lorna Marshall and Barry Behr, program chairs, along with the entire board for amazing us once again with the best in education and relaxation.
This program year the Society enters its seventh decade as it continues to offer an unparalleled blend of top-notch educational courses within an intimate and collegial atmosphere. The annual meeting just keeps getting better. I am confident the 2008 meeting, under the direction of Program Chair, Paul Magarelli, MD, PhD, will continue that tradition of excellence.
I deeply believe we, as reproductive specialists, are the luckiest people at work today. The field of reproductive medicine is the greatest area in medicine. It continually remains on the cutting edge of medical technology, scientific discovery and ethical boundaries. The study of human embryonic stem cells best exemplifies this.
In clinical practice, there is no greater joy than to assist infertility stricken couples to become parents and build a family. My family is the greatest source of joy, pride and purpose in my life. Helping others to receive this blessing is a calling I value above all others.
Our patients deserve the best from us. PCRS provides avenues of education leading to the well being of our patients. PCRS offers the highest quality CME program designed and presented by the top names in our field. The PCRS annual meeting allows us personal access to these thought leaders and creates a community where members share and exchange information to advance the ideologies of our profession and build long-term relationships. We learn best by close discussion and debate in a collegial setting that PCRS, uniquely, provides.
Our corporate sponsors recognize the importance of this type of education. I greatly appreciate their continued support without which we could not have such an invaluable society.
I am humbled and privileged to be the president of this magnificent society and look forward to working with an extremely talented board of directors committed to making this the best society for you. I strongly encourage you to become involved. Please start by asking a colleague to apply for membership (at www.pcrsonline.org) to help our organization grow and diversify.
I look forward to seeing you at Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, CA next April 9th -13th for another fabulous meeting of education, relaxation and fun.
With warmest regards,
Russell A. Foulk, M.D.
President, Pacific Coast Reproductive Society
