The written and oral Boards are daunting tasks for REI physicians after completion of their training, inducing significant anxiety in prospective ABOG diplomates. Rather than just a necessary stepping stone or a box to be checked off, these exams should be viewed as vital preparation for a long and fulfilled career in our field.
This lecture / activity is intended to reduce anxieties with regards to the Boards in current fellows by debunking myths about the exams, providing proven and efficient approaches of exam preparation, and reviewing high-yield pearls for the written and oral Boards. Emphasis will be placed on the written exam, which is more imminent for graduating fellows. Strategic aspects on how to approach the oral exam will also be covered in this lecture.
At the conclusion of the activity, fellows will feel more confident in how to prepare for both exams efficiently, and be able to view the exams positively as essential tools to become more complete REI physicians.
At the conclusion of this session you should be able to:
1. Demonstrate time-efficient approaches of exam preparation for the written and oral boards, and provide advice in test-taking strategy.
2. To review high-yield knowledge pearls for the written REI Boards
3. To outline the approach of exam preparation for the oral REI Boards.
