Improving Access to Infertility Care

Date Thursday, April 4, 2019
Time 8:40am - 9:20am
Location Esmeralda 1-4

Infertility is a disease causing disability and impacts one in eight couples in the US. Only sixteen of the United States currently have laws requiring insurance cover fertility care in some capacity. There are many ways to improve access to fertility care including advocacy, education of public and providers, lowering costs of providing care and medications to name a few. Some, in order to gain access to care that is unavailable, unaffordable, or restricted by law, travel across boarders to other countries for fertility treatments.

By the end of this session, you should have or be able to:
1. Become aware of barriers in access to care in the REI setting
2. Identify ways to reduce access barriers
3. The role of Cross-Boarder reproductive care in improving access
