MD Session: Managing Sequelae of C Section Scar Defect: Infertility, Bleeding, and Ectopic Pregnancy

Session Description:

Cesarean section scar defect is being recognized as a cause of abnormal bleeding and infertility. This session will address the potential causes and diagnosis of C Section scar defect. Current management options including hysteroscopic and laparoscopic approaches will be compared and contrasted and outcomes discussed in detail. Management of C section scar ectopic pregnancy will also be discussed.

Session Objectives:

At the end of the session the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe C section scar defect and the symptoms associated with it.
  2. Contrast the risks and benefits of hysteroscopic vs. laparoscopic techniques.
  3. Discuss the management of C section scar defect ectopic pregnancy.
