Physician Burnout: Extinguishing the Flame

Session Description:

Half of all doctors report symptoms associated with burnout: depression, exhaustion, disengagement, dissatisfaction and feelings of personal failure. Burnout is associated with increases in medical errors, erosion of mental health in physicians and if left untreated will undermine patient care. Physician Burnout is an increasingly common phenomenon and this session will explore the basis of physician burnout.

Session Objectives:

At the end of the session the participant will be able to:
  1. Discuss practice styles and patters that may place physicians at risk for burnout.
  2. Identify symptoms associated with burnout.
  3. Implement strategies in one’s practice and life to minimize the risk of burnout.
